The municipality of Dos Torres is preparing to host the thirteenth edition of the Great Goose Game of Los Pedroches, an activity that has established itself as a unique participatory event in the province of Córdoba.

The town will transform into the world's largest game board for this initiative, supported by the Provincial Council of Córdoba. Auxiliadora Moreno, head of the Area of Equality, Cooperation, Consumption, and Participation, highlighted that the project has grown without losing its essence, demonstrating how the involvement of administrations and associative fabric can turn an original idea into an event capable of mobilizing hundreds of people.
Moreno emphasized that the Great Goose Game of Los Pedroches is more than just a recreational activity; it is an example of how citizen participation fosters coexistence, cooperation, and a sense of belonging, bringing together people of different ages and backgrounds around a traditional game that also values the cultural heritage of Dos Torres.
The delegate for Participation thanked the work of the Cultural Association El Gran Juego de la Oca and noted the success of previous editions, which show excellent reception with dozens of teams, hundreds of participants from various parts of Spain, and a large team of volunteers. This year, 68 teams of nine participants each will compete.
For his part, the mayor of Dos Torres, Manuel Torres, stated that nearly 1,000 people participate as volunteers and players. He expressed gratitude to the associative fabric, the originators of the activity, for leveraging local heritage and gastronomy, thereby generating economic development.
The mayor recalled that the Goose Game of Dos Torres features elements like a jail, bridges, and wells, spanning 2.5 kilometers of route, making it the largest in the world.
The president of the Association, Dionisio Cuenca, unveiled new features for this edition, including a challenge to highlight the Los Pedroches region, based on the Huevolimpiada of Villaralto. An interactive map will also be published to enhance the experience for participants and visitors, facilitating access to the 12 board zones.
The opening gala will take place on Friday, July 31st, at 9:00 PM, where team "mansos" (timekeepers) will be revealed, followed by the initial challenge and a concert by Gamberrock. On Saturday, August 1st, the board will be open from 8:00 PM to approximately 3:00 AM, with participating groups playing simultaneously along the 2.5-kilometer route.
