The delegate for Infrastructure, Sustainability, and Agriculture of the Provincial Council of Córdoba, Andrés Lorite, reported that in the first eight months of 2026, "a total of 25 million euros have been mobilized for provincial roads, a historic figure."
The deputy highlighted completed projects with an investment of 2.5 million euros, such as the improvement of the road connecting Lucena with the shrine of Virgen de Araceli (750,000 euros) or the work carried out on the road between Villa del Río and Cañete de las Torres. Works have also been concluded between Bujalance and Valenzuela, the Carcabuey Ring Road, and the road linking Carcabuey with Zagrilla Alta.
Regarding ongoing works, with over five million euros, interventions include the widening of the road between La Rambla and San Sebastián de los Ballesteros (1.5 million euros), expected to be completed in September with the wearing course. Additionally, work is underway on the remodeling of the Montilla-Montalbán section to address issues with the Salado stream floods (1.5 million euros) and on the CO-6411 to improve the connection of Pozoblanco with the ring road, facilitating access to COVAP and the Dehesa Boyal industrial park.
Currently, roads are in the Procurement Service with over 5.3 million euros. These include the second phase of the road from La Rambla to San Sebastián (3 million euros), the connection between Palma del Río and El Calonge (800,000 euros), and the planned work on the CO-3204, known as Camino Viejo de Castro del Río (700,000 euros).
These investments are complemented by the annual 12 million euros from the maintenance contract, bringing the total figure to 25 million. Furthermore, 11.8 million euros from the Central Government will enable 79 actions linked to damage caused by storms last winter, to be initiated in the final months of the year.
These investments contribute to enhancing the value of the provincial road network, which totals 2,500 kilometers.
