The delegate for Finance and European Funds of the Provincial Council of Córdoba, Ana Rosa Ruz, participated in listening to the ‘SOTEU’, the State of the European Union Address delivered annually by the head of the European Commission, offering a vision of the Union's current situation and its main priorities for the fiscal year.
Ruz detailed that this intervention allows listeners to understand the assessment of tasks carried out in the past year, as well as gain first-hand information on the main challenges to be addressed in the immediate future, namely climate change, migration, the economy, and international relations. She added that it is an opportunity to learn about the political priorities and legislative initiatives the Commission intends to develop in the following year, thus understanding the political direction the European Union wishes to take.
The Provincial Council, through its Eurodesk-Europe Direct Córdoba Province office and in collaboration with the Aljafe Debate Academy, organized this activity open to the entire Cordoban community. Following the viewing of the speech, a round table discussion took place for analysis and live debate around the intervention by Ursula von der Leyen, current president of the European Commission.
This hybrid event aims to unify the debate both in-person and digitally, allowing people from across the province to be heard, regardless of distance, explained the head of Finance and European Funds.
