The UPO will be present at the European Universities Games (EUG) in Salerno, Italy, from July 18 to August 1. The Padel team, composed of students Elena de la Rosa Ramos, Ainhoa García Yepes, Enrique Cepas Cuadrado, and Alfonso Díaz Ponce, will compete from July 19 to 22. The participation was made possible with the collaboration of Serenísima Ibérica.
On a global scale, the university will compete in two disciplines organized by FISU. In London, Ontario, Canada, the World University Rowing Championship will take place from August 13 to 15, featuring UPO rowers Mª Jesús Gómez Guerrero and Luis de Oya and Nicolás López.
Subsequently, in Szeged, Hungary, the World University Canoeing Championship will be held from August 17 to 20. The UPO representation will be by Candela Delgado de la Fuente.
The UPO's Vice-Rector for Healthy Campus and Sport, Antonio Fernández Martínez, highlighted the students' exemplary effort in balancing demanding academic careers with top-level competitive sports. He recalled last year's successes, including David Barroso's world university championship in the 800 meters and Pablo Luque's European university championship in the -54 kg category in Poland, inspiring the university to continue supporting student talent.
