Seville City Council has allocated €150,000 to a comprehensive plan for repainting and road signage around fifty educational centers, aiming to ensure the safety of minors and the educational community.

The plan, rolled out across the city's eleven districts since the last week of August, seeks to protect schoolchildren and their families before the imminent start of the 2026/2027 academic year. The initiative goes beyond routine maintenance, introducing a new standard of pedestrian protection with the "Calle Escolar" (School Street) vertical signage.
In addition to the new vertical signage, intensive repainting of pedestrian crossings is underway, and "dragon's teeth" elements are being installed on wider streets to enhance visual impact. These measures alert drivers to the presence of minors, limit speed, and prioritize pedestrians.

"The safety of schoolchildren brooks no delay. With this €150,000 investment, we continue to demonstrate that the government's commitment to the educational community is firm. We have acted preventatively, and all this repainting and signage work will be ready before the centers open their doors this term."

Álvaro Pimentel · Delegate for Mobility
The work has been carried out using high-durability materials and the latest generation of non-slip paint, minimizing traffic disruptions by being performed mostly at night. This initiative aligns Seville with European standards for safe urban mobility.
The Delegate for Mobility, Álvaro Pimentel, highlighted that traffic calming in school access areas has a direct impact on the city's economic and labor dynamics, facilitating family work-life balance and reducing commuting times.
The City Council will technically monitor these fifty locations during the first quarter of the academic year to evaluate the impact of the new signage on traffic flow and ensure safer access for students, families, and the entire educational community.
