The incident took place on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 22, when a bus on the A-494, near kilometer 7 in the municipality of Moguer, was forced to halt. Occupants of the vehicle reported difficulty breathing inside, causing concern and prompting calls to the 112 Emergency Service around 3:15 PM.
In response to the situation, the bus driver made an emergency stop at a nearby gas station to allow passengers to exit and get fresh air. The Emergency Services center activated the Guardia Civil, Local Police, and medical services to assist those affected.
Although initial reports indicated several people might need medical attention, ultimately only one 44-year-old woman, who suffers from asthma, required care. She was treated at the scene and did not need to be transferred to a hospital.
“"Initially, the vehicle's occupants indicated that pepper spray had been used inside the bus, which would have created the unbreathable atmosphere."
The Emergency Service stated that passengers suggested the use of pepper spray as the cause of the unbreathable air. However, as of now, neither the Guardia Civil nor the Local Police have confirmed this hypothesis, and the investigation into the incident's origin remains open.
