The Huelva-Costa Primary Care District, part of the Andalusian Health Service (SAS), has completed various expansion, renovation, and maintenance works at the health center in Aljaraque. The primary goal is to enhance facilities and the quality of healthcare services provided to the public.
The total investment by the Regional Government of Andalucía for these improvements amounts to 390,000 euros. The regional delegate for Health, Manuela Caro, visited the facilities accompanied by the mayor of the municipality, Adrián Cano, and the District Manager, Antonio Ortega.
One of the main actions involved increasing the healthcare areas by adding four new consultations. One of these new rooms is specifically designated for pediatric nursing. These additions aim to optimize services for citizens and improve working conditions for staff.
The new consultations are located in the spaces previously occupied by the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation room and the Dentistry clinic. These services have been relocated to the new clinic in the urban center of Corrales, which has been operational since its opening late last year.
The second phase of the works focused on rectifying structural deficiencies. The building's stabilization and foundation have been reinforced, affected by recent heavy rains, using an innovative resin injection procedure.
These interventions complement previous maintenance work carried out last year on the roof, facade, interior walls, and finishes, as well as improvements to the adjacent urban area to enhance rainwater collection. The total investment in the renovation and upkeep of the facilities, including prior works, exceeds 900,000 euros.
Furthermore, the center's air conditioning system is being modernized with the installation of a new, more advanced, and energy-efficient unit.
These projects are part of a broader initiative by the SAS to modernize the primary care center network in Huelva-Costa and Condado-Campiña, addressing the obsolescence of facilities and upgrading technological equipment.
In recent years, improvements have been made to almost all health centers in the province, including those in Ayamonte, Moguer, Lepe, Gibraleón, Bollullos, and La Orden, in addition to the recent inauguration of the Corrales clinic. The total investment by the SAS in primary care in the province of Huelva since 2019 surpasses 26 million euros.
