The municipality of Santa Fe de Mondújar is preparing to relive its history with the XVII Velada Andalusí, a consolidated cultural and tourist event that will be held this Friday, August 7th. The event, presented at the Provincial Council, aims to connect attendees with the past through a proposal that combines history, theater, music, crafts, and neighborly coexistence.
Provincial deputy María Luisa Cruz highlighted the importance of such events for the cultural growth and identity of the province, congratulating all parties involved, especially the residents who bring the local heritage to life.
The mayor, Trini Góngora, emphasized citizen participation as the driving force of the event, with 44 residents, ranging from 3 years old to retirement age, actively involved in the theatrical performance. This year, the evening pays special tribute to the Andarax River, a source of life throughout the centuries.
In addition to the theatrical performance titled «Andarax, the river of our lives», the night will feature oriental dance shows by Sunal Danza, live music with the group Green Folk, and a tasting of Arabic tea and pastries.
The play's director, Manuel Pérez Sola, detailed that the dramatization will embark on a journey through time starting 5,200 years ago in Los Millares, covering the Iberian, Roman, Andalusian, and Christian cultures. Historical milestones will be addressed, including the founding of Almería in 955, a tribute to the biodiversity of the Andarax River by 19 children, and references to the Virgen del Río festival.
