The continuous power cuts in Gádor, which have lasted for two weeks and reached up to ten hours, have prompted concern from the City Council. The local government has demanded explanations from Endesa regarding the damages caused to families, shops, and businesses in the municipality.
The duration of these blackouts is particularly alarming, as they affect a significant portion of the day. The situation is exacerbated by the high temperatures in August, exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, where electricity is essential for air conditioning, food preservation, and general well-being.
Economic activity is also severely compromised. Bars, shops, and other establishments are suffering losses due to the impact on equipment, refrigeration systems, and the normal operation of their businesses.
“"Residents have the right to adequate electrical service and to receive information when prolonged interruptions occur."
In response to this situation, the City Council has sent a letter to Endesa requesting detailed information on the causes of the outages, network incidents, and the measures to be taken to prevent their recurrence. The complaint comes amid a lack of clear and sufficient explanations from the company.
The council emphasizes that the right to adequate electrical service and information is not dependent on the time of year. It announces that it will continue to demand a definitive solution and guarantees from Endesa and competent authorities to prevent these prolonged cuts from happening again.
This complaint follows a similar one from residents and businesses in La Cañada, who reported six outages in seven days, severely impacting the hospitality sector and other businesses, a situation that, according to testimonies, has been ongoing for years.
