The Port Authority of Almería (APA) has organized a technical visit for bidders of the main phase of the port-city urban integration works. The call was made on the Public Sector Procurement Platform and the tender was published at the end of July with a budget of 24.3 million euros (VAT included).
This is the fourth such session organized by the APA, following those held for the expansion of the Pechina Quay, the maritime station's envelope, and the installation of the 1 megawatt photovoltaic solar plant in Ribera I. These visits, recommended by the APA's technical team, are programmed especially due to the technical complexity of the actions or the investment made by the port authority, and aim to ensure transparency by responding equitably to the bidders' technical queries.
The visit, guided by the heads of the Infrastructure and Innovation and Strategic Planning departments, Antonio Ferrer and Alejandro Martínez, respectively, was well-received. More than 50 technicians, representing approximately 20 companies, toured the 4 hectares of port public domain that will be adapted and urbanized for their opening to the city of Almería.
The execution project for the actions in the port-city front areas of Almería, referred to as the main phase, includes improving the condition and urbanizing the Levante Quay, demolishing the current breakwater to achieve a panoramic view of the Cable Inglés, and redeveloping the Almadrabillas area, from the pedestrian bridge connecting to the Levante Quay, which will be extended, to the Club de Mar area, the surroundings of the Cable Inglés, and the promenade.
This project defines all necessary actions to develop the public domain service area for uses linked to port-city interaction, in accordance with the Almería Port's Port Uses and Spaces Delimitation (DEUP) and aligned with the Strategic Framework of the General Interest Port System, which aims to improve the port-city relationship and integrate infrastructure.
