Almería is hosting the exhibition ‘Legends of the World Cups’, a display allowing fans to journey through football history and celebrate the Spanish national team's successes. The exhibition, open until September 24 at the Barrio Andalusí Archaeological Site, was inaugurated by councilor Antonio Casimiro.
Created by the Museum of Sport association, the exhibition features eighty key objects from each world championship since 1966. Visitors can see balls from various World Cups, winning national team jerseys signed by iconic players, and a section dedicated to the Spanish team's achievements, including their victories in the 2010 World Cup and the 2008, 2012, and 2024 European Championships.
The exhibition includes items such as Pelé's boot, Beckenbauer's jersey, a memento of Naranjito (the mascot of the 1982 Spain World Cup), and Luis Enrique's jersey from the 1994 World Cup. Objects from stars like Zidane, Ronaldo, Griezmann, and Leo Messi are also displayed, along with a prominent space for Spain's triumphs.
Visitors can also access audio guides via QR code, featuring commentary from renowned sports journalists. The exhibition has been updated to include the ball from the latest World Cup and the official Spanish jersey signed by Álex Baena.
Antonio Casimiro expressed his delight in hosting the exhibition, noting that Almería is the first city to receive it after Spain's second World Cup win. He also announced a conference by Claudio Vázquez, head of medical services for the Spanish National Team, on September 11.
Pablo Martínez-Arroyo, co-founder of the Museum of Sport, stated that the exhibition aims to offer Almería residents a comprehensive view of World Cup history, including the Spanish national team's jersey and that of their coach, Luis de la Fuente.
The exhibition is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, at the Barrio Andalusí Archaeological Site.
