The Miramar Sports Complex in Adra is in the final stages of its ambitious expansion and improvement, a project resulting from inter-administrative cooperation between the City Council and the Provincial Council. The works, which began in November 2025, aim to offer citizens top-tier sports facilities before the end of the current year.
With a total investment of 1,716,499 euros, the project includes the construction of new paddle tennis and 7-a-side football courts, the complete renovation of changing rooms, and the creation of a cafe with a terrace. The Adra City Council contributes 916,499 euros, while the Provincial Institution contributes 800,000 euros, distributed as 100,000 euros in 2025 and 700,000 euros in 2026.
The president of the Provincial Council, José Antonio, and the mayor of Adra, Manolo, visited the facilities to oversee the progress of the work. The president highlighted that, once the investments are completed, Adra's residents will have some of the best sports facilities in both the province and Almería, emphasizing the mayor's drive and the collaboration between both administrations for the promotion of grassroots sports.
The mayor thanked the Provincial Council for its collaboration, noting that the scale of the project would have been impossible without this alliance. He detailed that the first phase included the renovation of the northern part with a 7-a-side football pitch, two paddle tennis courts (one covered), and a new bar with a terrace. Additionally, the lighting for the courts has been renewed, and the changing rooms completely reformed.
The comprehensive project not only adds new sports areas but also prioritizes comfort and modernization. The intervention is completed with the installation of efficient lighting, shaded areas, renovation of perimeter fencing, and the creation of fully accessible pathways, fostering the link between tourism and sports.
