The Provincial Council of Almería and the City Council have jointly presented this festival, which aims to highlight wine culture through the traditional Grape Stomping, the tasting of the first must, and the Artisan Product Fair. The program, designed for all audiences, will also include children's workshops and musical performances.
The Deputy of Presidency and Provincial Promotion, Carlos Sánchez, emphasized that Alboloduy is celebrating a tradition that has grown without losing its roots, bringing wine culture closer through the senses. The Ermita Park, San Juan Square, and Fuente Square will be the stages for the blessing of the grapes, the 'Grape Stomping', and the tasting of the first must, accompanied by the Artisan Product Fair.
Sánchez highlighted the pride of the Provincial Council of Almería in accompanying Alboloduy in this initiative, consolidating the province as a land of wine. He emphasized the work of the winemakers and institutional involvement, promoting heritage through the gourmet brand ‘Sabores Almería’.
The mayoress, Sonia Guil, explained that the day will begin by recalling the tradition of grape transport from Montenegro mountain. Subsequently, the blessing of the grapes, stomping, and must tasting will take place in San Juan Square. Fuente Square will host a fair of artisanal and agri-food products.
Guil also highlighted Alboloduy's connection with wine and music, mentioning local wineries such as Cristina Calvache and Viñas Altas, and the guest winery Cortijo El Cura. The event will have a solidarity component to raise funds for the Virgin's altarpiece and the Padre Tapia Association, enlivened by the band La Mezquita and Los Chanos.
The representative of Bodegas Cristina Calvache reported on the spectacular results of this year's harvest of the Jaén Blanca grape, native to the area.
The program for Sunday, September 27th, will start at 11:00 AM with cultural exhibitions at the Multipurpose Cultural Use Space. At 12:30 PM, there will be a reception of authorities and a grape procession, accompanied by the Music Band of the ‘La Mezquita’ Musical-Cultural Association, to San Juan Square for the solemn acts at 1:00 PM. At 1:30 PM, the winery stands and the artisan fair will open.
In the afternoon, starting at 2:00 PM, workshops and children's games will take place, followed at 3:30 PM by a musical performance in Fuente Square. The day will continue at 5:30 PM with a visit to an old wine press and will conclude at 6:30 PM with a guided tour of the Interpretation Centers of Alboloduy.
