Ordóñez, who regards Andalusian president Juanma Moreno as a key political reference, stated in an interview that the favorable outlook for the PP ahead of the May 17 elections carries the risk that confidence might lead to lower voter turnout.
“"The scenario is quite positive, but we must not fall asleep."
The Loja mayor emphasized that the main challenge for Moreno is not the opposition, but rather a potential complacency among his own voters. In his view, low participation could jeopardize the goal of achieving an absolute majority, which he deems crucial for regional stability and project development.
Furthermore, Ordóñez believes that the polls reflect a positive connection between the regional government's policies and the public, highlighting a “close” working approach. He recalled a key message from Moreno to his provincial candidates in Granada: “Whoever is not or does not feel what the citizens feel cannot be part of the project.”
Finally, the mayor of Loja praised the inclusion of young profiles in the candidacy, such as Érica Rodríguez, a member of his municipal team, seeing it as a commitment to “young and prepared people.”
