Technicians from INFOCA have visited the area to assess the possibility of carrying out controlled burns before next summer, driven by municipal concern over the numerous fires recorded last summer.
These preventive measures aim to reduce the risk of fire spread, particularly in grassland and palm grove areas that approached the Colonda neighborhood and private properties, according to Carlos Onetti, Environment delegate.
The head of the Fire Service, Laura Rodríguez Bravo, emphasized the importance of prevention and thanked Infoca for its collaboration in developing a roadmap for these tasks.
The process will involve coordination with various agencies and contact with owners of adjacent plots, whose cooperation is crucial for improving both preventive and extinction efforts.
INFOCA technicians are thoroughly studying the plots, differentiating between public and private land, and identifying the necessary conditions to carry out these operations with full safety and coordination guarantees.
