As part of Operation Cuco, officers arrested two men in Baza after surprising them in an abandoned farmhouse's tool shed where they were cutting and packaging cocaine into individual doses for sale via the 'telecoca' method.
One of the detainees, aged 28, had previously been investigated and arrested for a similar offense earlier this year. Investigations suggest he continued his illicit activity, partnering with the other detainee, aged 26. Both individuals have prior criminal records.
During the investigation, officers located a property with two semi-ruined buildings, lacking any cadastral reference, which was allegedly used by the suspects to process the narcotic substance. Upon searching the premises, police observed the two individuals cutting the substance using a scoop, water, and baking soda. Subsequent analysis confirmed the substance was cocaine.
The investigation also determined that the substance was intended for retail sale and was being cut with sodium bicarbonate to increase the quantity and thus the profits.
Among the items seized were three mobile phones, a plastic wrapper with over six grams of cocaine, five small sealed packets containing nearly five more grams of the same substance, a piece of white, powdery rock containing over four grams of cocaine, a precision scale, a small cooking pot and a burner used for 'cutting' the substance, sodium bicarbonate, 37 small plastic bags, and scissors.
The detainees have been handed over to the Civil and Criminal Section of the Court of Instance of Baza.
