The Cofradía de Estudiantes de Antequera has unveiled the official poster for the Children's Procession, scheduled for April 25 in the town. The artwork, chosen from various proposals by students of the Art Baccalaureate at Instituto Pedro Espinosa, bears the signature of Samuel García.
This collaboration between the brotherhood and the educational center has provided students with the opportunity to actively participate in creating the image for such a significant event in the local religious tradition. As explained by professor Javier Coca on 101TV, the creative process in the classroom allowed for great freedom, resulting in a “varied repertoire of works” that made the final decision difficult due to their high quality.
“"I didn't expect it at all."
Samuel García, a resident of Archidona, expressed his surprise and emotion upon learning that his design had been selected. He highlighted the excitement he felt knowing that his poster would announce this cherished procession.
The winning piece, crafted with Chinese ink and golden accents, captures the essence of the children's procession, merging the image of the Virgin with emblematic architectural elements of Antequera. The author, on the program Hermanaco, detailed his intention to reflect “the Virgin as the pillar for children carrying their small float and, in the background, what represents Antequera.”
This recognition marks Samuel's first artistic award, making it a very special experience. During the official presentation, he received congratulations from members of the brotherhood, neighbors, and local authorities, support he described as “very moving.”
From IES Pedro Espinosa, the importance of such projects is emphasized to give visibility to young talent and bring local traditions closer to students. The alliance with the Cofradía de Estudiantes is thus consolidated as a platform for young artists to showcase their work outside the academic environment and actively contribute to the city's cultural life.
