The Jaén City Council, via the Public Company for Parking and Services (Epassa), has confirmed significant public interest in the future parking spaces planned for the Alameda area. In just a few days, a total of 324 families have expressed their interest in both temporary rental and 75-year lease options for the upcoming constructions.
The mayor of Jaén, Julio Millán, highlighted that the response to the interest survey campaign, scheduled for August and September, exceeded expectations. According to the mayor, this support validates the municipal plan to create new parking zones and confirms the project's economic viability.
Specifically, 164 applications were received for rental spaces and 160 inquiries regarding spaces offered under a 75-year usage lease. The information campaign included distributing over 14,000 leaflets to households in the San Ildefonso, Salobreja, Avenida de Granada, and Camino de las Cruces areas, within Belén y San Roque, to assess parking needs.
The future parking facility, which Epassa aims to have operational by 2027, will feature a total of 460 spaces. The majority will be allocated to residents, addressing a long-standing demand, while approximately one hundred will be for short-term use, facilitating access for users of the Alameda health center and visitors to Jaén's city center.
Millán described the initiative as an "exercise in transparency" and a crucial information-gathering effort to tackle one of the area's main mobility challenges: the lack of parking. The project includes two access options: a monthly rental fee and a 75-year lease, which is transferable and inheritable.
This project is part of a broader municipal plan to provide Jaén with 1,000 new parking spaces across various neighborhoods and with different typologies, aiming to meet residents' needs.
The information campaign remains ongoing, offering the option to complete an online form or request telephone and in-person assistance at Epassa's offices, located at calle Fermín Palma, 5, bajo.
