The fire broke out during the afternoon, producing a dense column of smoke visible from various points across the Bay of Algeciras. The proximity of the flames to the access road to the coastal neighborhood forced the Local Police to restrict traffic for safety reasons.
Crews from the Provincial Fire Consortium and the Infoca forest fire service participated in the containment and extinguishing efforts. The rapid response allowed the road's asphalt to act as a natural firebreak, preventing further spread of the blaze.
After more than an hour of intensive work, emergency teams managed to stabilize and put out the fire. The affected area is located near the Palmones industrial park, where the first alerts were reported around 4:00 PM.
