The expropriation procedures for several properties, carried out for the connection of Avenida de Punta Ribot with Calle Calderón de la Barca, near the Blancazul urbanization, could conclude this August. This week, the expropriation of a property on Calle Santa Filomena was finalized.
These two roads, considered vital for traffic circulation within the urban center, are currently separated by a small block of houses, some of which were in a state of ruin or abandonment and have now been addressed.
The expropriation of several properties, with only one remaining to complete the file, will enable direct access from the crematorium roundabout to the area surrounding the El Arenal bullring.
Mayor Juan Franco highlighted this project as one of the cornerstones for the municipality's urban transformation, as it will improve mobility and alleviate traffic congestion on Avenida María Guerrero.
Once the expropriation process is complete, the project for the demolition of the houses, the adaptation of the affected space, and the connection of the avenue with Calle Calderón de la Barca will be put out to tender. This intervention is crucial for creating a new strategic road link to mitigate the city's circulation problems. This connection hub is expected to be fully resolved by the end of the year for the development of the urbanization works.
Additionally, the mayor reported on the progress of the Detailed Study for Calle Calderón de la Barca, a road that plans for a significant widening to improve city access from the north to the urban core.
