The tournament, which took place throughout the week at the Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande facilities, saw the Spanish men's squad, including players from the region, improve their performance after a challenging start. Despite a notable recovery in the second and third rounds, a less brilliant final round prevented a higher climb in the overall standings.
In the individual men's competition, the best-ranked Spanish delegate was a local player, who secured the sixteenth position. Other members of the national team also delivered strong performances, with a player from the Canary Islands finishing twenty-second and a player from Barcelona twenty-fifth. A third local player concluded in thirty-fifth place.
Meanwhile, in the women's category, the Spanish team achieved a fourth-place finish. One of the Spanish female golfers secured the seventh best individual position, while two other teammates shared the tenth and sixteenth places, respectively. In this category, Sweden claimed the title, followed by England and France.
The championship format stipulates that each country fields a men's team of four players and a women's team of three. For the country classification, the three best daily scores in the men's category and the two best in the women's are computed. The competition was played under the “stroke play” format over four days, also including a parallel individual competition.
“"The Spanish men's team, which included players from Algeciras and San Roque, finished ninth in the European Nations Championship this Saturday."
