The history of covert operations carried out by the assault units of the Italian Marina Militare against British ships in Gibraltar during World War II is a topic that has garnered increasing interest. A local historian, who previously published a series of articles on the Italian Décima Flotilla MAS, has delved deeper into this subject with his new work, Tras las huellas de los italianos. Guía del Campo de Gibraltar (In the Footsteps of the Italians. Guide to the Campo de Gibraltar), recently presented in Algeciras.
The book's presentation took place at the José Luis Cano Documentary Center, in an event organized by the Algeciras City Council. The event was attended by numerous individuals interested in the history of the region and eager to learn firsthand about the locations where these events unfolded. Representatives from local associations and the Institute of Campogibraltarian Studies were also present.
The author, born in La Línea de la Concepción in 1961, is a writer specializing in World War II topics. He serves as a numbered counselor for the Institute of Campogibraltarian Studies in the First History Section and has disseminated his work through numerous articles, papers, and a dozen books, some of which have been translated into other languages. He has also documented monographs and written scripts for various national and international television production companies.
The new publication, Tras las huellas de los italianos. Guía del Campo de Gibraltar, was designed by a collaborator and is supported by the E&C publishing house. The book is published in a 15x21 cm format, has 161 pages, and includes 224 photographs, illustrations, plans, and a map.
