The local writer and historian has presented his latest work, Tras las huellas de los italianos. Guía del Campo de Gibraltar (Following the Footsteps of the Italians. Guide to Campo de Gibraltar), a comprehensive study exploring the covert missions carried out by Italian forces in the region.
The book launch took place in La Línea de la Concepción, attracting a large audience interested in the military history of the district. The event was supported by various cultural entities, including the Instituto de Estudios Campogibraltareños and the Asociación Cultura La Trocha.
The 161-page work is enriched with 224 photographs, illustrations, plans, and maps, offering a detailed guide to the key locations in Campo de Gibraltar and Gibraltar that were involved in these operations. The author has structured the content into three routes designed to facilitate understanding and tracing of historical events.
“"The base and waters surrounding Gibraltar were the target of the missions executed by these Italian assault units and the scene where they achieved their first triumphs."
The book not only addresses the tactics and logistics of the Italian operations but also contextualizes Spain's role in the conflict, highlighting how the country's neutrality influenced the development of these secret missions. The publication aims to immerse the reader in history, allowing them to explore the places that witnessed these events.
