This summons, issued by Chamber Number 56 of the Civil Section of the Court of First Instance of Madrid, precedes a potential lawsuit by Landaluce, who also serves as a senator for the Mixed Group. The news was initially reported by El Confidencial and confirmed by legal sources to Europa Press.
The conciliation demand stems from statements made by Montero on January 13 during a PSOE event, in which, according to Landaluce's lawyer, she “falsely accused him of having been convicted, denounced, and investigated for a crime of gender violence.”
The lawsuit demands a public retraction from the former Minister of Finance, a cessation of her statements, and the payment of 200,000 euros in compensation.
Landaluce's lawyer also indicated that the lawsuit includes subsequent statements by Montero, where she “again referred to that complaint, deliberately concealing that it had been filed by PSOE colleagues, reproducing publications by Alvise Pérez,” an MEP, “on social media, and that it had already been archived by the Supreme Court Prosecutor's Office on January 9 of this year.”
It is important to note that neither Montero nor Landaluce are required to attend the conciliation hearing in person, as the presence of their lawyers or solicitors is sufficient in such cases.
