The presentation took place this Thursday at the José Luis Cano Documentary Center, gathering a large audience interested in the recovery of episodes and characters from local historical memory. At the event, Tapia Ledesma was accompanied by Javier Cózar, president of the beneficiary entity, and councilor Ángel Martínez.
The 2026 edition of Historias de Algeciras XII, sponsored by port workers affiliated with the Social Assistance Foundation of the Port of Algeciras (FAASPA), reinforces the project's commitment to the city's social and economic fabric. The book, sold for 10 euros during the presentation, will also be available at the Hiperoffice stationery store, located on Radio Algeciras street, opposite the old Correos offices, an establishment that collaborates selflessly in its dissemination.
This volume compiles 20 chapters that explore various significant moments in the history of Algeciras, with evocative titles such as Las Misioneras Concepcionistas en Algeciras, Santacana y la Cruzcampo, El Padre Cruceyra, un hombre para la eternidad, or El héroe de la calle Alta. Each story is based on extensive documentation, allowing for the reconstruction of key aspects of the city's social and cultural life.
The graphic section of the work has been enriched by writer and watercolorist Francisco García Corral, whose illustrations complement the texts and provide a distinctive aesthetic continuity to the entire series.
