The municipal Beaches department of the City Council of La Línea de la Concepción has reported on the activity of the Lifeguard and Rescue Service, provided by the company Forgeser, during the month of July. The teams responded to a total of 56 medical incidents and carried out 22 interventions of various kinds along the coastline.
In terms of medical attention, 56 people were assisted. The most frequent cause was jellyfish stings, with 19 assists, followed by minor injuries (16 interventions). Nine requests for ambulance assistance were managed, along with 4 attentions for spider fish and insect stings, 3 eye washes, 2 assists for minor traumas like sprains and contusions, and 3 attentions for various causes.
Regarding other incidents, the operational staff completed 17 aquatic rescue interventions or support for people in distress in the water.
In terms of signaling, 490 flag changes and hoistings were recorded. The councilor responsible for the Beaches area, Rafael León, explained that the green flag (safe swimming) predominated with 331 records, followed by the yellow flag (caution) with 112. The red flag (swimming risk) was hoisted on 37 occasions, and the specific one for jellyfish presence was used 10 times.
The July report is completed with the rectification of 3 reports for damage to beach infrastructure and the resolution of 2 missing person alerts, which concluded with the location and accompaniment of those affected.
These actions are part of the comprehensive safety and prevention plan continuously deployed by the City Council along the entire maritime front to ensure the well-being of residents and visitors on the beaches.
