The municipality of La Línea de la Concepción will kick off its grand week, the Velada y Fiestas, this Friday, July 17, at 9:30 PM. The inaugural event will take place in the Plaza de la Constitución and will be marked by the traditional coronation of the youth and child queens, Paula Sánchez and Macarena Lara, respectively. Both will be accompanied by their respective courts of honor.
This event will also serve as the stage for the opening proclamation, to be delivered by Ascensión Pero Ríos. The evening will also feature a musical performance by artist Erika Leiva. Following the speeches and performance, a floral offering will be made to Inmaculada Concepción, the town's patron saint and perpetual mayor, with the participation of the court of honor and the municipal corporation.
The stage design for this inaugural event is a special tribute to the tenth anniversary of the Cruz Herrera Museum at its current location in Villa San José. The structure faithfully reproduces the facade of the municipal art gallery and is presided over by a representation of the local painter's most popular work, 'the women of La Línea,' flanked by a palette and brushes.
