Young Jimena Vázquez Gutiérrez, a second-grade student at the Santa Teresa de Jesús School, will experience one of the most special moments of her life as she is crowned Child Queen of the 2026 Feria Real of Algeciras. The news of her selection caused her intense emotion, describing the moment as if her "heart jumped out of her mouth," in her own words.
Jimena defines the Algeciras Fair as "a week of happiness and action," a celebration she experiences intensely with her family, enjoying the rides, games, and stalls. Her favorite attraction is the Saltamontes (Grasshopper), although she appreciates the entire festive atmosphere. One of the moments that most excites her about her new role is throwing candies to children during the parade.
In addition to her responsibilities as Child Queen, Jimena balances her studies with rhythmic gymnastics practice and painting. At school, her favorite subject is Physical Education, and although it's too early to decide, she aspires to become a police officer or a teacher in the future.
While counting down the hours until the coronation, the young Child Queen encourages all children to enjoy this unique festival and wishes all residents of Algeciras that this will be "the best Fair of their lives."
