The Junta de Andalucía has reported progress on the emergency works being carried out on the Jerez-Los Barrios highway (A-381), involving an investment of ten million euros. These tasks aim to repair the damage caused to the road by the storms that affected the area in January and February of this year.
The delegate of the Andalusian Government in Cádiz, Mercedes Colombo, accompanied by the territorial delegate for Development, Carmen Sánchez, visited kilometer 28 of the road where these works are underway. Colombo emphasized the importance of the project, which affects a main provincial highway, and assured that efforts are being made to provide a definitive solution and ensure good service for users of the regional road network.
Mercedes Colombo explained that this intervention is part of numerous emergency works in the province of Cádiz, under the Andalucía Actúa Plan, which mobilizes over 107 million euros. The necessity for these actions arose to ensure safe circulation conditions following the storm's impact.
At the visited site, kilometer 28 of the A-381, the storms caused deformations in slopes and ditches, water accumulation, and pavement cracks, damage that required these safety-focused emergency works.
The works, awarded to the company Martín Casillas, include the reconstruction of the longitudinal drainage system of the slope, new ditches, repair of deep drainage, installation of a pile screen with an anchored tie beam, and widening of the slope protection and reconstruction of the existing retaining wall.
Mercedes Colombo reiterated the Junta de Andalucía's commitment to acting with responsibility and coordination in response to the storm-related incidents, mobilizing available resources to ensure circulation and accessibility on the affected roads.
The Junta recalled that these works are in addition to other actions on the same highway and other roads in Cádiz affected by the storms, as well as ongoing maintenance tasks on the regional road network in the province.
