During the first two months of the OPE 2026 campaign, up to August 15, the port of Algeciras handled a total of 903,658 passengers and 251,473 vehicles. These figures represent a 7.6% decrease in passenger traffic and a 5.7% decrease in vehicle traffic compared to the same period in 2025.
A total of 3,258 rotations were recorded at the port, a 5.5% decrease compared to the first two months of 2025. In the return phase, which began on Sunday, August 16, 295,639 passengers and 82,520 vehicles have already returned through Algeciras.
At the Andalusian level, OPE 2026 has moved over 2.16 million passengers in both directions during its first two months, with a total of 2,169,080 travelers, a 2.7% decrease from 2025. This accounts for 96.9% of the national total.
Regarding vehicles, the five Andalusian ports have registered 545,359 movements, of which 408,673 were departures and 136,686 were returns. This figure, representing 95.9% of the national total, also shows a 1.7% decrease compared to the previous year.
The OPE 2026, which began on June 15 with the departure phase, is now facing the return phase until September 15. Forecasts indicate that the campaign could exceed 2025 figures by around 3%.
The OPE campaign is coordinated by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection and Emergencies, with the participation of various administrations and security forces to ensure transit between Europe and Africa.
