The incident occurred during a routine speed control on the aforementioned road, when a speed camera installed in an official vehicle recorded the vehicle's high speed. This event has led the Traffic Research and Analysis Group (G.I.A.T.), part of the Road Safety Research Unit of the Civil Guard's Traffic Subsector in Cádiz, to charge the driver with an alleged crime against road safety.
The infraction, outlined in article 379.1 of the Penal Code, carries severe legal consequences. The driver could face prison sentences ranging from three to six months, a fine of six to twelve months, or community service for a period of 31 to 90 days.
Additionally, the law stipulates the deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for a period exceeding one year and up to four years. The Civil Guard reiterates the importance of respecting speed limits, emphasizing that excessive speed reduces reaction time, significantly increases the risk of accidents, and exacerbates their potential consequences.
