The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) has inaugurated the tenth edition of its 'Know Your Port' program, an activity that will run until June 5th. This initiative aims to bring the reality of the port enclave closer to the public, enabling around 2,200 individuals to understand its operations from the sea.
The first excursion departed this Monday at 6:00 PM from the Ribera del Llano Amarillo Maritime Promenade. Before setting sail, the president of the APBA, Gerardo Landaluce, welcomed the participants. Attendees had the opportunity to sail alongside large vessels and enjoy dolphin watching, combining port outreach with environmental tourism.
Demand has been exceptionally high, with all available spots selling out just hours after online registration opened. In response to this enthusiasm, the APBA has implemented a notification system on its official website to manage potential cancellations and accommodate new applications.
'Know Your Port' is part of the official program for European Maritime Day, an event promoted by the European Commission every May 20th since 2008, highlighting the economic, social, and environmental significance of the maritime and port sector. In previous years, this initiative was recognized by the European organization as a benchmark event.
