Firefighters from the Algeciras station have been deployed since early Saturday afternoon to a house fire on Calle Río. The incident, which produced a significant column of smoke visible from various parts of the neighborhood, has caused alarm among local residents.
According to preliminary information, the Algeciras Local Police alerted the 112 emergency services around 5:45 PM after detecting flames in a property on the second floor of the building. The swift response from emergency teams, including the National Police, was crucial in containing the fire's spread.
The smoke plume from the fire was visible between buildings, prompting many residents to leave their homes to observe the firefighting efforts. To facilitate the firefighters' operations, the Local Police have closed traffic on the affected street and surrounding areas.
