The events unfolded in the early hours of the morning when a Civil Guard patrol, conducting a checkpoint on Mar del Sur Avenue in Torreguadiaro, San Roque, attempted to stop a car driver. The individual disregarded the officers' instructions and immediately fled through the streets.
After an initial failed interception, the driver continued his escape along the A-7 towards Algeciras. Faced with this situation, the Civil Guard requested support from the Algeciras Local Police, who deployed a device to assist in intercepting the vehicle within the municipality.
Both forces initiated a coordinated operation across various routes in the town, while the detainee drove in a «manifestly dangerous and reckless» manner. Seeing no possibility of escape, the individual violently rammed a police vehicle and also collided with several parked cars.
As a result of the collision, two Local Police officers sustained various contusions and had to be transferred to Punta de Europa Hospital. After the arrest, it was confirmed that the driver lacked a driving license and was carrying seven doses of cocaine, 1,145 euros in cash, and three mobile phones.
The detainee will be brought before judicial authorities this Friday as the alleged perpetrator of serious disobedience, assault on law enforcement officers, endangering road safety, and drug trafficking offenses.
