The situation has become more complicated for Recreativo de Huelva, which after Matchday 31 finds itself outside the play-off spots. The team, managed by Arzu, could not maintain their initial lead, secured by Roni's goal at the Francisco de la Hera stadium, and watched as Extremadura turned the score around.
This adverse result is compounded by the victories of several of their direct rivals. Xerez CD, currently in fifth place, defeated Lorca Deportiva, extending their lead over the Decano to three points. Meanwhile, Extremadura, the league leader, solidified their position after beating Recreativo in the final minute.
Other matches of the day also influenced the standings. Already relegated Almería B lost to Estepona, who gained three vital points to get closer to staying in the league. Melilla fell to Águilas, while Xerez DFC and Linares Deportivo drew nil-nil. Salerm Puente Genil drew one-all with Deportiva Minera, and Atlético Antoniano did the same with Yeclano Deportivo. Finally, UCAM Murcia thrashed Atlético Malagueño.
With these results, Recreativo de Huelva is now three points behind Xerez CD, the fifth-placed team, and five points behind the leader, Extremadura, painting a rather discouraging picture for the final stretch of the season.
