This unique celebration, coinciding with the Day of the Cross, allows the boys and girls of the town to fully enjoy their big days, re-enacting the adult processions on a smaller scale and ensuring the continuity of the tradition.
The day began, as is customary, with the arrival of the tobacco squad of the Roman Empire at Calvario Square early in the morning. There, they intoned the traditional 'Diana' to Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, marking the start of the festive events.
Subsequently, the image of the Terrible, accompanied by the Christ of Mercy, María Santísima del Mayor Dolor, and María Santísima de los Dolores, began its route through San Cristóbal Street and Paseo del Romeral. The small figures later joined in Santa Catalina Street, performing reverences to the town's patron saint.
The parade continued to Don Gonzalo Street and National Square, where moments of great splendor were experienced. Numerous parents accompanied their children, making them active participants in Puente Genil's deeply rooted 'manantera' tradition.
Next Sunday, the Brotherhood of Nuestro Padre Jesús Resucitado will bring this week dedicated to the youngest members of the household to a golden close. This celebration marks the beginning of a May full of festivities, including the Spring Festivals in honor of the Virgen de los Desamparados and the traditional May Crosses.
