The Montilla City Council has reported a very positive assessment of the 2026 El Santo Fair, emphasizing high citizen participation, civic behavior, and safety during the event.

The 2026 El Santo Fair in Montilla proceeded smoothly, with no significant incidents and broad participation in scheduled activities. The event has solidified a fair model that blends tradition, coexistence, and economic revitalization, according to the municipal government.
Mayor Rafael Llamas thanked all individuals, groups, associations, collaborating companies, and municipal employees, as well as the exemplary conduct of the citizens. "Montilla once again proves it can host a benchmark fair, with a unique model that appeals to visitors and stands out for its coexistence and safety," he stated.
The security operation, coordinated among the Local Police, Civil Guard, Civil Protection, Firefighters, health services, and private security, effectively managed peak attendance periods without major incidents.
The reorganization of the Seniors' Dinner, which gathered approximately 1,080 people in two shifts, was highly praised for improved organization and participant satisfaction. "We believe this model is here to stay because our seniors were very pleased," noted Llamas.
Cultural, religious, and traditional events linked to the city's patron saint, San Francisco Solano, also saw significant participation. The opening speech by Ana Sánchez Herrador marked the start of festivities that combined Montilla's identity with a wide range of leisure activities for all ages, coinciding with the start of the jubilee semester.
The City Council will continue collaborating with groups, associations, and brotherhoods to adapt the program to citizens' needs, as indicated by the mayor.
The fair represents a significant opportunity for the local economy, particularly benefiting the hospitality, restaurant, and retail sectors, which experienced high activity due to both citizen participation and visitor arrivals.
The mayor concluded by emphasizing the unique identity of the El Santo Fair, which differentiates it and is highly valued by visitors. This recognition encourages continued efforts to consolidate and improve a model that blends tradition, coexistence, and safety.
