The contest, which aims to bring scientific knowledge closer to citizens through images, has received 107 entries from Spain, Portugal, and Latin America, consolidating its growth and international character. The event will take place at 8:00 PM in the Centro Cultural Alcalde Antonio Carpio.
During the ceremony, an exhibition featuring the 40 best photographs selected by a jury of ten specialists will be inaugurated. This exhibition will remain open to the public for one week, offering a different perspective on scientific research.
The Councilor for Culture, Soledad Raya, highlighted the importance of these initiatives to “bring science closer to citizens from a different perspective, demonstrating that research can also excite and communicate through an image”. She also emphasized the collaboration with AMDIC to foster meeting spaces between culture and knowledge.
The high artistic and scientific quality of the submissions was praised by the jury, composed of Fine Arts professors, science experts, and City Council technicians. Furthermore, citizen participation has been significant, with over 6,900 votes cast in the public vote for one of the awards.
The contest awards three prizes: a first prize of 700 euros, a second prize of 400 euros, and the public's choice award, also valued at 400 euros. The City Council invites citizens to attend the awards ceremony and visit the exhibition.
