The delegate for Employment, Business, and Self-Employment of the Junta de Andalucía in Córdoba, María Dolores Gálvez, visited various activities organized as part of this celebration. The province of Córdoba has been participating in this initiative since 2014, establishing it as a key event for the sector.
In Montilla, Gálvez attended an artistic fretwork workshop led by artisan Joaquín Feria and later visited the workshop of Antonio Carrasco, specializing in stainless steel craftsmanship. Additionally, the municipality offers an aromatherapy and natural cosmetics workshop by Olga Salvachua.
“"The European Handicraft Days represent a unique opportunity to bring traditional crafts closer to citizens, especially young people, and to highlight the talent of our artisans."
The delegate's agenda continued in Córdoba capital, at the headquarters of Futuro Singular, where the Córdoba Artisans Association is conducting glass and fan workshops, led by artisans Rosa Montes and Rocío Valenzuela. These activities aim to showcase traditional techniques and creative processes to the attending public, and the artisans will also share their work with the Ariadna NGO.
“"Craftsmanship is a hallmark of our province and a key sector in its economic and social fabric, combining tradition and innovation and generating employment opportunities."
In total, the province of Córdoba hosts over twenty activities, including participatory workshops, live demonstrations, and open days at individual artisan workshops. These actions take place in the five Artisan Interest Zones (ZIA), with professionals showcasing their techniques and contributing to the dissemination of this sector. The full program is available on the official Handicraft Days website.
