The police action in Puente Genil occurred after it was confirmed that the drivers of these personal mobility vehicles (PMVs) were not complying with current regulations. Despite having received prior warnings about the rules, the scooters lacked the required documentation and mandatory insurance, leading to their immobilization and removal.
The Local Police has issued a call to citizens to remember the importance of adhering to the guidelines established by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) for PMVs. Key regulations include a speed limit of 25 km/h, prohibition from circulating on sidewalks and pedestrian areas, and the obligation to use the vehicle individually.
Furthermore, it is emphasized that these vehicles must be equipped with essential safety elements such as braking systems, lighting, and reflectors, and possess the corresponding circulation certification. The use of mobile devices or headphones while driving is also prohibited.
The Puente Genil Local Police has stressed the importance of complying with regulations to ensure the safety of all road users and promote responsible coexistence.
