The project, with a budget of 832,095.52 euros, is supported by the 2% Cultural program. Funding is provided by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda, and the Ministry of Culture.
Work began on June 16 and is scheduled to last eight months, with completion expected by February 15, 2027. The intervention focuses on two main areas: the south tower, a potential entrance bastion, and the northeast exterior wall of the alcázar.
The local government aims to establish the castle hill as a premier cultural site. Technical teams report that excavations have already uncovered structures predating the 14th-century fortress, with remains potentially dating back to the 10th-9th centuries B.C.
