The flames, which have spread to wooded areas and the Montemayor urbanization, have prompted over 130 calls managed by the EMA 112. The fire's magnitude led to the elevation of the emergency plan to phase 1 operational status, as reported by the acting Minister of Emergencies for the Junta de Andalucía, Antonio Sanz.
Preventive evacuations have been carried out for several homes in the Parque Botánico Country Club area, and traffic on the AP-7 towards Cádiz, between kilometers 1054 and 1070, has been cut to facilitate firefighting efforts.
The emergency services have mobilized the Infoca Provincial Operational Center, firefighters, the Guardia Civil, local and national police, and their attached unit, along with Road Maintenance. An Advanced Command Post has been established at Llano de la Ermita in Benahavís, and the local sports center has been set up to house evacuated residents.
Currently, 110 professionals are involved in the extinction efforts, including forest firefighter groups, operations and extinction technicians, environmental agents, and mobile and command units. Thirteen aerial resources, including helicopters and water-carrying and amphibious aircraft, are also participating.
The emergency phase is declared when the situation requires the deployment of extraordinary resources for extinction or population protection. The Andalusian Emergency Agency has urged the public to exercise extreme caution and follow the instructions of emergency personnel.
