The incident occurred around 11:45 AM, when the 112 Andalucía emergency service received a call reporting the accident at kilometer 5.5 of the road. Emergency teams, including the 061 Health Emergency Center, the Civil Guard Traffic Department, Andújar Firefighters, and the Local Police, were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Despite the rapid response from emergency services, it was confirmed that both occupants of the vehicle had passed away. Authorities have not released further details regarding the identities of the victims.
As a sign of mourning, the Andújar City Council has declared 48 hours of official mourning, effective from 3:00 PM on May 14 until 3:00 PM on May 16. During this period, flags on municipal buildings will fly at half-mast and official events have been suspended.
Additionally, the council has invited citizens to observe a minute of silence tomorrow, May 15, at 12:00 PM in Plaza de España, as a gesture of respect and solidarity with the families of the deceased.
