Agents of the National Police have dismantled a dangerous operation in Andújar, named 'Caza-Cabeza', leading to the arrest of three individuals. The detainees are allegedly involved in crimes including illegal possession of weapons, coercion, threats, and robbery with violence. The police intervention focused on neutralizing a serious armed confrontation between family clans competing for control of a drug sales point in the town.
The investigation, which lasted several months, revealed an increase in violent threats between the two feuding clans. Public and police alarm escalated after the discovery of spent casings from an AK-47 assault rifle, a finding that posed a severe threat to public safety in an urban environment.
The operation involved discreet surveillance, tracking, and house searches, supported by the Response Operational Group (GOR) of Jaén and the Aerial Means Unit, which deployed drones and helicopters to coordinate actions. Simultaneous entry into three residences led to the seizure of a considerable weapons cache.
Among the seized items were an AK-47 assault rifle, two handguns, a hunting shotgun, over 180 metallic cartridges, four empty ammunition magazines, and various large bladed weapons, including a machete, knives, an axe, and modified canes.
The Judicial Authority has ordered the release of the three arrestees with charges pending. The Andújar Police Station maintains the operation is ongoing and does not rule out further arrests as ballistic analyses are concluded.
