The University of Cadiz (UCA) is preparing for the final quarter of the year with a renewed offering of microcredentials, a form of continuous education aimed at meeting the specialization needs of society and the job market. These short-term courses provide agile and specific training, enabling participants to acquire concrete skills and earn a university accreditation with direct professional application.
These microcredentials are part of UCA's strategy to transfer knowledge generated in its research centers and classrooms to society. They are designed to respond to the demands of constantly evolving professional sectors, allowing both graduates and active professionals to update their knowledge or gain new skills throughout their careers. Notably, in many cases, prior university education is not required for enrollment.
Following the program developed in the first semester, the offerings will resume in September with new proposals spanning various fields, including health sciences, engineering, social sciences, architecture, and digital transformation.
The first of these courses will commence on September 1st at the Cadiz Campus. Titled "Immunotherapy in skin cancer", this 5 ECTS credit microcredential (125 hours) will offer 12 places. The course will delve into the epidemiology, tumor biology, staging criteria, and prognosis of cutaneous cancers, as well as advances in immunotherapy and real-world case studies.
The second proposal, starting on September 17th, will be delivered virtually. Under the title "Industrial production of sustainable fuels: Transformation of raw materials into fuel, technologies, processes, and regulations", this 4 ECTS credit microcredential (100 hours) will provide 50 places. It will cover the role of sustainable fuels in the energy transition, key production technologies, their sustainability analysis, and the accompanying regulatory framework. Both University of Cadiz faculty and MOEVE professionals will jointly teach this course.
The program will continue through October, November, and December with more microcredentials focusing on areas such as neurological physiotherapy, autism and intervention in school and social contexts, explosive atmospheres, teamwork and leadership, clinical trials, design and implementation of joint international university degrees, HVAC systems specialization, musculoskeletal pathology management, sports performance climbing, and emergency updates, among other topics.
Through this initiative, UCA reaffirms its commitment to lifelong learning and continuous education, facilitating access to specialized university instruction that addresses the challenges of a constantly evolving society and job market. The microcredentials expand professional development opportunities, promote knowledge transfer, and strengthen the university's connection with the social and productive fabric.
