The old Caballo Blanco hotel in Valdelagrana, El Puerto de Santa María, has transformed from a tourist landmark into a place shrouded in mystery, with numerous testimonies of unexplained phenomena within its walls.

The province of Cádiz is home to several locations where tradition and mystery intertwine in popular tales. One such place is the old Caballo Blanco hotel, situated in the Valdelagrana area of El Puerto de Santa María. This building, once a symbol of tourism on the Cádiz coast, is now known for the strange occurrences reported by those who claim to have explored it.
The Caballo Blanco hotel opened its doors in 1962, coinciding with the boom in tourism on the Andalusian coast. It quickly became a preferred destination for national and international visitors, drawn by the beaches, gastronomy, and relaxed atmosphere of the Bay of Cádiz. For years, it served as a meeting point for travelers seeking the tranquility of Valdelagrana and the characteristic local hospitality.
However, like other establishments of its generation, the hotel was affected by changes in the tourism model and progressive deterioration, leading to its eventual closure. Following its shutdown, urban development projects emerged in the early 2000s to transform the space. These plans envisioned the demolition of the old facilities to construct a modern tourist complex spanning approximately thirty thousand square meters, including gardens, around one hundred and sixty rooms, dining areas, a spa, and a commercial gallery.
While the future of the land was debated amidst urban plans and administrative procedures, the abandoned Caballo Blanco building began to gain a new reputation among mystery enthusiasts. The hotel's state of abandonment and decay attracted curious individuals, who started visiting it, driven by rumors of strange events within its walls.
Among the most notable testimonies is that of a group of friends who decided to explore the building one night. They reported hearing crying and seeing a silhouette in one of the corridors. Although they initially thought it might be an animal or a person, they found no one upon closer inspection. Later, while reviewing audio recordings, they claimed to have captured a male voice briefly responding to their questions. They also described perceiving footsteps on an upper floor, a shadow moving, and a sudden drop in temperature, which heightened their unease and led them to leave the premises. Upon exiting, some claimed to have seen a luminous sphere moving near the area they had explored.
