The initiative, driven by Fundación Telefónica in collaboration with Fundación Cádiz CF, took place last Friday in the city. The main objective was to equip participants with digital skills to facilitate their communication with family and access to relevant information.
Under the name ‘Reconnected on social media and digital tools for seniors’, the training was aimed at users from the entities Antiguas Alumnas Salesianas and the Centro de Día Santa Clara. The workshop is part of a new corporate volunteering model from Telefónica focused on the technological field.
The event also received logistical support from the Asociación DYAR, the company Event Mood, and the Area of Planning, Coordination, and Strategic Development of the Diputación de Cádiz. This action is part of the International Day of Telefónica Volunteers, which mobilized 4,500 employees in Spain.
Beyond technical training, attendees enjoyed a guided tour of the JP Financial Estadio, home of Cádiz CF. Former players Pepe Mejías and Paco Baena acted as hosts, guiding participants through the facilities.
This combination of digital training and social activity aims to reinforce practical learning and shared experience, addressing the digital divide as a factor of isolation among the elderly population. The initiative seeks to facilitate contact with family and social circles, especially for those living alone.
