This June, the Strawberry Moon will be observable. This name was given by Native American tribes to the first full moon of summer to mark the beginning of the harvest for this seasonal fruit. The nickname does not refer to its color but to this ancient tradition.
This phenomenon occurs annually in late June, after the summer solstice. Although the moon will appear slightly larger than usual, this is an optical illusion caused by its proximity to the horizon in the Northern Hemisphere.
“"The Strawberry Moon will be visible next Monday, June 29th, at 23:57, the exact moment it reaches its peak and remains unusually low in the sky, appearing slightly larger than usual."
The moon will be fully illuminated, receiving all sunlight. While it is just another full moon, its symbolic significance as a signal of summer and the wild strawberry harvest makes it special.
The phenomenon will be visible in much of the world, including the province of Cádiz. According to 'Star Walk', the optimal time for viewing in the Iberian Peninsula will be at 01:57 on June 30th.
For better observation, it is recommended to seek locations with low light pollution and a clear horizon, such as the coast or the Cádiz mountains.
