This decline in La Isla places the number of unemployed at 8,148, an improvement compared to the 8,285 recorded in February. Despite this positive trend, San Fernando's figure remains slightly below the provincial average for Cádiz, which saw an unemployment drop of 2.11 percentage points.
Comparatively, other localities in the Bay of Cádiz showed variations. For instance, El Puerto de Santa María registered a decrease of 3.03 percentage points, while Chiclana, a significant tourist destination, experienced a reduction of 2.23 percentage points. Puerto Real closely mirrored San Fernando's figures with a 1.67 percentage point drop, and the provincial capital, Cádiz, was lower with 1.11 percentage points.
From a year-on-year perspective, San Fernando has achieved an even more pronounced reduction, with 972 fewer people unemployed compared to March 2025, when the number of jobless individuals in the locality stood at 9,120.
Analyzing the data by sectors, the services sector was key to this improvement, reducing the number of job seekers by 89 people, from 6,108 in February to 6,019 in March. Construction also showed a significant decrease, with 39 fewer unemployed, going from 545 to 506. In industry, unemployment dropped by 6 people, from 342 to 336, and in agriculture, there was a decrease of 1 person, from 70 to 69. Individuals without prior work experience also saw a slight improvement, with 2 fewer job seekers, going from 1,220 to 1,218.
