The initiative, to be debated this Tuesday, April 14, at the Tourism and Commerce Board, arises in response to the “evident state of deterioration, lack of maintenance, or absence of informational elements” affecting both heritage sites and vertical signage at various points in the capital of Cádiz.
The PSOE emphasizes the importance of signage that is useful, clear, and accessible, capable of highlighting the value of Cádiz's historical heritage and facilitating its understanding for residents and visitors. Councilwoman Rosario Tey stressed that “Cádiz possesses invaluable heritage that must be projected with a careful and coherent image.”
“"We insist that what was already approved in the Plenary be carried out, that agreements do not remain in a drawer, which is why we are now presenting it in this other forum, the Tourism and Commerce Board."
This proposal reiterates a socialist motion approved in the plenary session of June 2025, which already contemplated the need to renew and improve monument signage, unifying graphic design and integrating digital tools. Tey highlighted that the implementation of QR codes could enrich information in an agile and dynamic way.
In addition to improving monuments, the proposal demands a review and update of vertical signage and informational furniture, ensuring their aesthetic coherence and functionality. The councilwoman concluded that “maintaining our heritage in good condition reinforces the collective commitment to the preservation of our history.”
